Trending Kitchen Colors for 2019
12/19/2018 | specs+spaces staff |
Kitchens are getting more personality. In fact, Decor Aid declares white kitchen are over altogether. Current trends are about creating a space that works cohesively with the home, but that also makes a statement. When it comes to kitchen design trends, we’re even seeing deeply moody kitchens make a big breakthrough for 2019. Adding color, whether it’s on the walls or cabinetry, is the perfect way to show off your style or set the mood.
Colors expected to be popular in 2019 can also make excellent additions to a kitchen design. People will be taking a more mindful approach into incorporating them into the home. Working on a kitchen remodel or planning a client’s new build? We’ve selected five colors that will take it from bland to bold in 2019.
DEEP GREENS

Remember when we said moody kitchen were going to be big? Deep forest greens are a great way to achieve this look. Which is why we love that Elle Decor has picked hunter greens as one of the biggest kitchen trends for 2019. These green tones remind us of a connection with nature. It’s one of the reasons we love this Studio McGee kitchen design in Black Spruce (DE6308). Try these hues on the cabinetry and pair them with wood flooring and a brushed metal handle for an elegant dramatic look.
AIRY BLUES

Softer, lighter blues with a hint of grey or green bring a calming effect to a space. Just take a look at this space designed by SoCal Modern. If you’re looking to liven up a kitchen without getting too dramatic, try these blues on the cabinetry. They also pair well with statement flooring, another trend you can expect to see in 2019 kitchens. In fact, two of these blues were highlighted as trending colors in our 2019 Spirited Journeys color + design trend stories.
RICH REDS

Reds can really add drama to a space. Here in this space by L2 Interiors, red’s used as an accent to play off of the red tones in the cabinetry. Get out of that neutral comfort zone by using some of the deep berry reds, or earth-toned warm and spicy hues like 2019’s Color of the Year. These rich, elegant hues, seen on the fashion runways, are making their way to interiors.
GOLDEN YELLOWS

While Gen Z yellow might be a bit much for the kitchen, soft, golden yellows give the space a positive, happy vibe. To liven up a smaller kitchen, or one that doesn’t get much light, opt for the lighter, brighter yellows. Soft yellows also have the added benefit of versatility, conjuring everything from Mid-Century vibes like this kitchen in Claire Thomas’s ranch, to country or even coastal ones. They also pair well with other kitchen trends, such as using Quartz in place of stainless steel sinks.
