March Color of the Month: The Green Hour
03/14/2018 | specs+spaces staff |
March’s Color of the Month also doubles as 2018’s Color of the Year, which is the ever-so-Parisian and serene, The Green Hour (DET544). This shade of green is a richer and darker take on the very popular, lush color trend that we’ve been seeing of late. This blue-green hue is inspired by, and nostalgia for, an era in Paris when the bistros and cafes would serve absinthe, a drink infamous for its green coloring.

The Green Hour is a cool-toned color that represents growth and renewal, perfect for a month which welcomes the Spring Equinox. Green hues are especially known for their representation of nature and positive energy. That said, let’s check out some of the best ways to use The Green Hour in your space.
How To Use Green Paint To Design Interiors
The beauty of The Green Hour is its sheer versatility. This green paint is literally ideal for any room and a number of design styles.

Green As A Neutral
In this home, designed by famed California architect Cliff May, this hot color trend takes center stage as the home’s neutral, not accent color. This green paint’s grey and blue undertones provide it the flexibility to bring color to an entire space without overpowering it.

‘70s Glam
Jackie Thomas and DeAnn McCoy of Thomboy Properties utilized our March Color of the month to create a focal wall in the dining room of Casa Estrella. This modern Palm Springs home is one part Moroccan-inspired, one part 1970s glam, and The Green Hour brings contrast to the room’s olive tones and flashy gold finishes.

Traditional
The Green Hour’s early 20th-century roots makes the green tone ideal for curating a traditional space, or those spaces infused with elements of Art Deco, Art Nouveau or Hollywood Regency. This green hue works well as seen here with gold and brass accents.

Want a neutral-toned space? Pair The Green Hour with colors like Historic White (DET653) and Trail Blazer(DET633). For a richer and more colorful palette, use this green paint alongside Wine Goblet (DET400) or Nocturnal Sea (DE5783).
Accents
The Green Hour also works great as an accent color. Try accessorizing with our limited-edition planter collection from our collaboration with Pop Up Greens.
Green For Good
Dunn-Edwards Paints has teamed up with Beautify Earth, a non-profit organization that is focused on bringing artists and communities together to create murals and art that everyone can enjoy. In honor of this, we are donating 10% of all sales of The Green Hour to aid them in facilitating the beautification of all communities.
