Keep Neutrals From Getting Boring

When you hear the word "neutral" describing home design you may automatically think "boring". What most people don't realize is that a neutral palette can be just as exciting and inspiring as one full of bold colors. It is all about choosing decor items and colors wisely.
To take your neutrals up a notch consider:
Mixing and matching: Why stick to one neutral palette? Many designers and homeowners are successfully merging multiple neutral palettes. For example, neutral grays go perfectly with ivory accents.
Focusing on textures: While we often focus on painting tips for designers some of our favorite design choices have nothing to do with paint. You can highlight the beauty of a neutral palette by focusing on rich textures. Look for leather accents, natural fibers, and plush rugs and pillows.
Incorporating metallics: One of the hottest trends right now is to incorporate metallics into home design. This is perfect for neutrals because the metallics stand out from the overall palette. Picture frames, vases, and fixtures are obvious ways to incorporate metals but don't be afraid to think outside the box. Consider subtle metallic window treatments and bed linens.
