Influential Colors of 2017

Upon reflection and examination of our color trends future cast launched in 2016, here is a confirmation of the colors that will be influential for 2017.
Reds and pink will continue to trend in popularity. Pinks show up in ranges from natural looks in cherry blossom to artificial coloring such as cotton candy. Look for reds to become a key color this fall, extending from classic red to browned reds. Bring on the drama!
Oranges are sophisticated and nuanced in 2017, highlighted by terra cotta and copper tones. Russet, amber, clay and rosewood are also key.
Yellows are everywhere in 2017, with Dunn-Edwards 2017 Color of the Year Honey Glow (DE5354) taking charge, promoting the idea of renewal and starting fresh. Pushing forward in every direction – from yellow-green and vegetal hues to honey, to creamy and pigmented banana hues – this key color range alludes to the warming of all colors this year.

Greens push forward into a wide variety of shades, from grass greens that are spring fresh, to deeper pine greens, khaki and highland grasslands – all which allude to the strengthening of greens this year. With
Pantone naming Greenery (15-0343) as its 2017 Color of the Year, highlighting the notions of renewal and restoration, greens find a place in a wide variety of design industries for 2017.
In 2017, blues are strongly pigmented in cerulean to blackened blues, continuing the prevalence of a wide ranges of blues in design.
Purples continue to surprise us, showing up continually in a wider range of design industries. In 2017, purples display with either blue or red undertones, which supports a broader acceptance of the range of purples and violets. Lavender and mauve show strength this fall.
Warm neutrals are gaining ground, highlighting the trend of the warming of all colors. Browns are chic and show in cooler undertones or copper highlights. Beiges are in pink or beige cosmetic tones, providing
support of the transition from sand and camel to a newer range of beiges.
Color combinations to look out for in 2017 include deep reds and oranges paired with ocean blues and honey glow yellow to emphasize community involvement and spirit. A sense of ownership in the
community provides a backbone to earthy and nature-based, embraceable color combinations.
Metal, yellow, olive green, orange and deep plum provide a positive color combination to highlight the integration of technology into our daily lives, redefining our tasks with wearable tech devices and increasing our lifespans through medical breakthroughs. A positive combination full of life and vitality.
A softer palette that includes peach, grass, rosewood, and lake blues help define a trend of creating our own world full of deliberate, considerate choices for daily life – from what we eat, to disconnecting from the
digital world.
