Dwell on Design 2017
07/07/2017 | Grace Lennon |
Dwell on Design, presented in partnership with Dwell magazine, brings together renowned designers, innovative products and curated content all under one roof. Held each year at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the exhibition and conference showcases the best in modern design materials, furniture and accessories, home technology, garden and outdoor materials, kitchen and bath, and international design. It features world-class speakers, continuing education classes for interior design professionals and discussions for design-seeking consumers. This year, roughly 300 vendors returned to the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 23-25 and below are some of our favorite booths and displays:

Home Products
This year, more than 2,000 home products were on display at Dwell on Design, from kitchen appliances to lighting, furniture pieces to living room accents. Clint Harp, well known for his unique, hand-crafted furniture designs on HGTV’s "Fixer Upper," had a large display of his works on the floor. Harp’s vision for his company, Harp Design Co., is a hope that each handmade furniture piece brings people together in a home. Secto Design featured a variety of modern pendant lights, while the Art Center College of Design featured colorful home decor, including pillows, lamps and wallpaper.

Tiny Homes
There were a variety of tiny homes on display this year, including "The Joshua Tree," a colorful, 560-square-foot trailer design by Kim Lewis intended for the “desert dweller." Built on two gooseneck trailers, the home features built-in hammocks, a removable deck, screened-in porch using Parasoleil copper panels, and an open-shelf custom kitchen. Also on display was Happier Camper, an ultra-light, retro-modern, fiberglass camper that features a modular interior.

This year, Dwell Outdoor featured prefab homes, modern outdoor furniture, an outdoor cinema curated by the Architecture + Design Film Festival and AutoCamp’s outdoor adventure trailers. AutoCamp featured two, full-size custom Airstreams and a luxury tent, in addition to a series of campfire conversations with the team of designers behind the AutoCamp brand. Bars were placed throughout Dwell Outdoor, where attendees were able to meet, relax and enjoy a beverage.
