Danielle Lombard, star of Bachelor in Paradise, talks about designing her first Los Angeles condo.
One of the huge perks to becoming a homeowner is being able to personalize your space without having to get approval from a landlord, and paint color plays an important role in personalization. That’s why finding the right colors was so important to Danielle Lombard, star of TV’s Bachelor in Paradise. She used Carrara (DET649), a crisp, clean color with blue-gray undertones to give her home a fresh new vibe.
When she became a first-time homeowner, Lombard wanted her Los Angeles condo to reflect her own personal style. “I loved the space and the vaulted ceilings, but the colors were very mundane and outdated,” she stated. She came to Dunn-Edwards for help.
Lombard started her redesign with the living room and dining room because those are the first rooms people see when they enter her home. “I wanted the space to feel calming, welcoming and warm,” she stated. “In my last place, I never spent time in the living room area because it felt very cold and barren.”
She met with the paint experts at her local Dunn-Edwards store whom she says gave tons of helpful suggestions. “I love the versatility of options and colors that Dunn-Edwards offers,” she says.
Ultimately, Lombard went with cool light hues to balance her redwood flooring and a Mid-century modern vibe for the furniture selections. Since the existing wall color was darker, Lombard used two coats of primer and one coat of white paint before applying her color choices. She wanted to “make sure the results would be as close to the sample as possible,” says Lombard.
The whole project took her about a week. Prep work Lombard admits is the most tedious, but is well worth it. ”I had to get scaffolding and ladders to reach the corners of the vaulted ceilings,” she shares. It was the key to achieve the crisp lines she wanted without getting paint on the molding.
For her next project, Lombard plans to redo the bathrooms and rip up carpet in the bedrooms and replace it with vinyl flooring.
