Pasadena Showcase House of Design Celebrates 50 Years

LOS ANGELES (April 9, 2014) Dunn-Edwards, the exclusive paint supplier for the Pasadena Showcase House of Design for more than 47 years, has unveiled the color palette chosen for the Monterey Colonial estate in Arcadia that has been transformed for the tour by more than 25 design professionals.

As one of the oldest, largest and most successful house and garden tours in the nation, the Pasadena Showcase House will be open April 13 - May 11, 2014. The selected English Arts and Crafts home is a historical jewel in the Arroyo area of Pasadena. Built by architect Stiles O. Clements for Robert Philip Flint and his wife Margaret Gray Flint, it was completed in 1915 and sits on 3.5 acres. The 8,200-square-foot estate features seven bedrooms, 10 baths, five fireplaces, oak flooring, redwood wall paneling and floor-to-ceiling leaded glass windows. The exterior of the site includes a rose garden, pool, bath house, tennis and badminton court, green house and gardener's potting shed, as well as a chauffeur's suite above the garage.

Stiles O. Clements was the architect of the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles and the Beverly Hills High School swim-gym, featured in It's a Wonderful Life. Clements designed many other public and private establishments throughout Los Angeles and even assisted Julia H. Morgan on the Hearst Castle estate in San Simeon, Calif.
