Dunn-Edwards Unveils Color Palette for the 2013 Pasadena Showcase House of Design
Reflecting the California Style
LOS ANGELES - (April 18, 2013) Dunn-Edwards, the exclusive paint supplier for the Pasadena Showcase House of Design for more than 46 years, has unveiled the color palette chosen for the Monterey Colonial estate in Arcadia that has been transformed for the tour by more than 25 design professionals.
“The color palette was influenced by the architecture of the estate as well as the early history of California. This Monterey Colonial residence features a mixture of stylistic influences native to California design, and many of the colors reflect this bygone era,” explained Dunn-Edwards color marketing manager, Sara McLean. She points out that the designers utilized these colors as well as their own nuances in creating a perfect blend of their visions to tie into the estate's past. “The color selection process began last summer when a theme was decided and the fabrics were chosen. We then make the recommendations for paint colors that will thread throughout the Showcase rooms.” The tour runs April 21 through May 19, 2013.
The home was originally built in 1941 for prominent furniture executive C. Lawrence Barker of the former Southland furniture company, Barker Brothers. Roland E. Coate, Sr., the architect of the home, was known for creating a native “California style” and incorporated a number of Colonial Revival subtypes in the design. The estate is a two-story, 10,433-square-foot home that features several gardens, a tennis/basketball court, a swimming pool with spa, and a pool house set on 1.79 acres.
Paint was provided for the exterior and interior rooms, using a variety of Dunn-Edwards' premium low VOC products. To see the highlighted color palette for the 2013 Pasadena Showcase House of Design, click here.
