Dunn-Edwards® 2020 Color of the Year, Minty Fresh (DE5687), captures the enthusiasm and optimism of a new decade. As a key color of the Dunn-Edwards 2020 color trends story, “Fresh and Free,” Minty Fresh exudes a calm, clean and crisp high point to the color palette, a subtle and relaxing pastel that conveys the partnership between technology and nature. Applying this color in design seeks to create measured rhythm out of chaos, with health and wellness at a central place in design planning. Japanese design office id has skillfully incorporated Minty Fresh into Sumiyoshido Kampo Lounge, creating a simple and elegant clinic for acupuncture and moxibustion.
When we think about a pharmacy, the image some may have in their mind is of a dark space filled with cabinets, shelves and numerous remedies. This is not the case with Sumiyoshido Kampo Lounge. Soft tones and clean lines create an ample and pleasant space. A series of medicine shelves are lined up and stacked, with some of the drawers remaining open, displaying natural medicine samples with their aromas and
textures.
Sumiyoshido Kampo Lounge functions as both an herbal pharmacy and a treatment clinic. The shop’s
mint green expresses a therapeutic world of herbal medicine derived from plants, creating an
ambivalent atmosphere in which the heaviness and lightness of furniture coexist. In contrast, the
private areas of the clinic for acupuncture and moxibustion are painted in uniformed white, with thick
drape curtains that help patients relax by softening the impressions and connotations that are typically
associated with examination rooms.
