Modernism Week Celebrates 12 Years of Palm Springs Mid-century Design

Making a splash in the desert for its 12th year, Modernism Week’s signature February festival highlighted Mid-century modern architecture, art, interior and landscape design, and vintage culture in the Palm Springs area of Southern California.

The annual, 11-day festival provides opportunities to explore the best of Mid-century design through a wide variety of events, including the Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale, tours of iconic homes in more
than 25 neighborhoods, architectural walks, seminars, movies, a classic car show, garden tours and a vintage trailer exhibition.

“Each year, we continue to broaden the programming for Modernism Week based on the feedback of our attendees,” said Modernism Week Board Chairman Chris Mobley. “Our returning Modernism Week supporters will be thrilled with the selection of appealing new programs.”

CAMP

CAMP, the Community And Meeting Place, was the starting place of the Modernism Week experience. Dunn-Edwards hosted a tradeshow booth to highlight our 2017 Color of the Year program, along with the projects that Dunn-Edwards sponsored throughout the tradeshow. Also, the booth highlighted three art pieces by the world-renowned artist SHAG, who had a book-signing at the booth.

Palm Springs Door Tour, Presented by Dunn-Edwards Paints

Palm Springs is known for unique and vibrantly colorful doors. Dunn-Edwards was a proud sponsor
of this self-guided bike tour through the Indian Canyons neighborhood to see the colorful and unique doors of Palm Springs.

Eichler Day 3.0: Desert Eichlers

With the stunning backdrop of Palm Springs and charming character of historic Mid-century modern
architecture, the Desert Eichlers present a rich color reference to the California lifestyle. Dunn-Edwards, in collaboration with KUD Properties, Inc., created the color palettes for the two Desert Eichler properties presented this year.

Chino Canyon Project: Desert Palisades Al Beadle Home 1 and O’Donnell Home 1

The Chino Canyon Project represents the mindful neighboring of old and new. Two architectural homes — one based on a never-constructed plan by late Mid-century modern architect Al Beadle, the other by esteemed Palm Springs architect Lance O’Donnell — exemplify the very best of Mid-century and
contemporary modern architecture in Palm Springs. Dunn-Edwards was proud to donate paint to these architectural gems.

Modernism Week Show House 2017: The Christopher Kennedy Compound Home Tour

This tour was named by The Hollywood Reporter as the “No. 1 Must-See Event of Modernism Week!” Traditional Home and California Home + Design magazines present The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House. For the fourth year, Kennedy brought together nearly 20 of the nation’s most prominent “tastemakers” to create unique rooms in this decorator showcase house. Dunn-Edwards is a
proud sponsor of this show house.

The Rennick House by Thomboy Properties, Inc

Debuting at Modernism Week, the Rennick House by Thomboy Properties, Inc., sits on the 13th fairway of the Indian Canyons North Course and offers amazing views. Dunn-Edwards is proud to be the exclusive paint sponsor for this project.
