In the world of design, there are trendy styles and there are timeless styles. Some colors, like crisp and clean white, are simply timeless. While white is a classic design choice, choosing the perfect white paint color is trickier than it seems. With that in mind we’re rounding up 5 perfect whites we're loving right now. We’re diving into some of the best white paint colors for both interior and exterior applications used by interior designers and home design aficionados across the west. Let’s begin with some exterior spaces and then we will explore a few interiors as well.
Sarah Rosenhaus of Sarah Rosenhaus Interior Design likes to focus on providing luxurious, livable and inviting residential design. Her client, in this case, wanted a crisp and clean space that felt open and modern for their Santa Monica, Calif. home. When it came to the exterior of the home, the key was to maintain a seamless connection with the indoor spaces. Sarah utilized Cool December (DEW383) on both the exterior and interior of the home to help accomplish this goal. With Cool December, both the indoor and outdoor spaces could enjoy a cohesiveness, enabling all the activity in this hub for family and friends to easily spill from one to the other and make the home feel even bigger and more inviting.

For this Mid-Century renovation, husband and wife design duo Rebecca and Jared Raskind wanted to revive their California home with a mix of Mid-century modern, Hollywood Regency, and California bohemian styles. This project, like in their other revival properties, started with a crisp white palette. From there, bolder colors, graphic tiles and more were incorporated along the way. To that end, the home’s exterior features a base of White Picket Fence (DET648). This white color plays well with the sophisticated and bold exterior accents of gray, including Anchor Gray (DE6328), Cover of Night (DE6329) and Crestline (DE6325), not to mention the fun pop of Minty Fresh (DE5687) on the home’s front door.

When Jaclyn Johnson, founder of Create and Cultivate, found her dream Spanish-style home in Los Angeles, she knew she wanted a crisp and clean space. She decided to showcase the home’s exterior stucco in Vanilla Shake (DEW325) and added surprise splash to the home’s doors and windows with light, lime green Misty Hillside (DE5568) as an accent.

Husband and wife design team Paul and Becky Heintz of Local Studio LA transformed their Joshua Tree, Calif. cabin from a trash-filled shell, to a beautiful bohemian style desert getaway. To allow those inside the home to focus on the expansive desert views in front of them, Paul and Becky opted for white walls in Milk Glass (DEW358) with a trim of Warm White (DEW380). The soft undertones of Milk Glass also play well off the warm woods and earth tone accents in the space.

Long Beach, California-based real estate agents, Rochelle and Doug Kramer, bought a historic Cliff May ranch home and wanted to give it a modern feel. They used Dunn-Edwards Whisper (DEW340) on the home’s interior walls to brighten the space and make it feel open.
