According to Chavez, one key to the quality his company delivers is the product they use: Dunn Edwards.“For the type of work we do, the paint is very predictable and dependable,” says Chavez. “That helps us keep the work moving and stick to customer schedules.” One project that recently took up a lot of time on Chavez and his six-person crew’s schedule was a big custom home project in Rio Verde, AZ. Featuring a dozen 4,000-sq.-ft. single-family homes built by AJF Custom Homes, the job entailed complete interior and exterior painting.

“These are big, beautiful homes so the look and finish of the paint was really important,” notes Chavez. “For the exterior, we sprayed about 40 gallons of EFF-STOP Select primer topped with 40 gallons of ACRI-HUES Professional in a flat finish. On the interior, we sprayed the ceilings with VERSAFLAT and brushed and rolled the walls with VINYLASTIC Plus sealer then VERSAWALL. For trim and doors, we went with VERSAGLO in semi-gloss.”

Chavez notes that working in new construction, there’s often a lot of other trades also working the jobsite. “We always have to go back in and touch up where they’ve scuffed walls. With the VERSA series, this is really easy. If there’s a mark on a wall, I can just hit it with VERSAWALL and not have to reroll corner to corner. It saves us a lot of time and helps keep the project moving for our customers.”

In addition to dependable products, Chavez notes that the services Dunn-Edwards provides help keep jobs running smoothly. “I’m old-fashioned this way, but I like to call in my product. We work all over the Valley and no matter what store I’m dealing with, I can call in my order and it’s ready and waiting when we get there.
