Color Confidence at Home: Meet Helanna Weinstein, Dunn-Edwards In-Home Color Advisor
10/09/2023 | Madison Pfeifle |
In the vibrant world of color, finding the perfect hue for your home can be both exciting and daunting. Helanna Weinstein, In-Home Color Advisor at Dunn-Edwards, has a wealth of experience and a passion for making color choices stress-free for customers.
Helanna embarked on her colorful career with Dunn-Edwards in July 2017, initially serving as a Professional Color Advisor in various stores across the Phoenix area. In September 2021, she was promoted to the role of In-Home Color Advisor, a move driven by her desire to best assist her customers by being able to be fully immersed in their homes and really hone in on their needs.
Helanna’s passion for interior design traces back to her childhood, influenced by a neighbor who was an interior designer. Her early involvement in designing her own home fueled her determination, leading her to graduate from Northern Arizona University with the same major she entered college with.
Helanna’s journey has led her to helping homeowners transform their spaces by bringing their visions to life through color. She advocates for in-home color services as a way to alleviate the anxiety associated with color choices. Her goal is to make customers’ lives easier by providing expert guidance and ensuring they are confident in their color selections.
Before the pre-consultation, the in-home color advisor gets information from the customer about the project. After reviewing the conversation, Helanna meticulously prepares color palettes and chips based on the customer responses. This preparation proves crucial in understanding customers’ preferences, allowing Helanna to adapt quickly to their needs during the in-home consultation.
Helanna’s approach involves offering multiple color options and guiding customers to their final decision. She encourages customers to sample colors, emphasizing the importance of considering various lighting conditions. Helanna tries not to impose her personal preferences too much unless customers ask what she would do in her own home. When it comes to color preferences, Helanna’s current favorites include the 2024 Color of the Year, Skipping Stones (DET567), and the timeless Cloistered Garden (DET523). Her love for slightly above neutral colors reflects her personal taste, which evolves as she discovers new color combinations while assisting in the field.
Dunn-Edwards customer, Amanda O, approached Helanna for color services for her interior project. Helanna successfully assisted Amanda in multiple areas of the home, including the kitchen cabinets and sunroom. Helanna was excited that this customer was eager to test out colors that weren’t only neutral tones. Amanda landed on English River (DE5789) for her kitchen cabinets; she was so satisfied with the services that she purchased the exterior package a few months later for Helanna’s assistance on the outside of her home. Helanna’s success stories, such as a customer who availed in-home color services for both interior and exterior projects, showcase her ability to bring visions to life. By creating a stress-free and comfortable environment, she instills color confidence in her clients.
