Desert Oasis Luxury Show House: Polynesian Culture Meets Mid-Century Design
05/03/2022 | Sara McLean |
Situated within Eldorado Estates in the luxuriously appointed Indian Wells resort community, the 2022 Desert Oasis Show House, originally designed by Architect John Walling in 1978, presented a classic mid-century design reimagined into a stunning, tropical Polynesian paradise. Open for tours and events March 31 – April 10, the home offered attendees the opportunity to experience the estate’s unique beauty.
Building off of Walling’s mid-century creation, the house reflects the beauty and ease of the South Pacific surf lifestyle, masterfully merged with a crisp, refined aesthetic.
During the week, Design Collaborative hosted a series of events, discussions and tours along with three
philanthropic benefits for FIND Food Bank, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Special Olympics of Southern California.
The event brought together a list of esteemed designers who contributed their talents to transform the estate into an elegant exhibition space highlighting the key elements of architecture, interior design, fine art, furnishings, and advanced home technology. Many creativesplayed a part in its transformation, including Lead Designer Michael Berman, Landscape Architect John Feldman, and Builder David Wood, as well as Designers Linda Allen, Chris Barrett, Robyn Howard, Donna Johnson, Jenika Kurtz, Shannon Palmer, Jen Samson, Huma Sulaiman, Amy Wax, and Maya Williams.
